Employment Expo November 2018

Sydney Multicultural Community Services held an Employment Expo in collaboration with AMEP TAFE Ultimo.

More than 80 students attended at TAFE Ultimo on Thursday, Nov. 1 seeking to learn about requirements and best practices to find a job in Australia.

The event began with a presentation by Greg Noyes, Manager at the Department of Jobs and Small Business. He shared insights into the recruitment and selection process in Australia, platforms that connect job seekers with employers and other useful tips.

Divesh Narayan, Multicultural Service Officer at the Department of Human Services, explained some of the benefits for people who receive payments from Centrelink, such as ParentsNext – a free Australian Government program to assist parents in identifying supports required to get ready to enter the workforce.

In addition to these topics, a recent migrant shared her success story and there was information about how to deal with discrimination.
